Pretreatment Senior Sampler/Inspector: Salt Lake City, UT $2689-$3995 per month.  Closes:  1/27/12

Under the direction of the Pretreatment Program Manager, implements the industrial wastewater-sampling program to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and established Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs). Sets up, operates, and programs auto-samplers to collect samples inside manholes and other restricted locations. Sampling may require the collection of bacteriological, organic and inorganic chemistry, and radiological samples. Develops and maintains sampling schedules to ensure permit monitoring requirements are performed in a timely, efficient, and legally defensible manner, considering SOIs, industrial user permits, State and Federal requirements, and efficient routes.  Under the direction of the Pretreatment Program Manager, conducts inspections of regulated industrial user for compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and established SOIs. Following a pre-set format, produces detailed and accurate inspection reports.  Informs Pretreatment Senior Staff and Program Manager of any changes or deficiencies for appropriate action. May be requested to train co-workers in sampling requirements and SOIs. Conducts follow-up investigations when potential or actual problems arise. As directed by the Pretreatment Program Manager responds to citizens' inquiries with the specific testing. Conduct: on-site inspections with customers when problems are suspected or identified. Records complaints and follow-up investigations. Performs other duties as required.

This class consists of technical work required to implement Broomfield's Industrial Pretreatment Program, Individual Sewage Disposal Program and Stormwater Program.  The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and innovative services. Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions, and external entities.

Facilitates implementation of the inspection requirements of the Industrial Pretreatment Program.
